Hey people, Gorilla glue gave me a bunch of their products including wood glue, superglue, epoxy and tape and asked me to make something awesome. I was inspired by their logo so made this!  Please check out my YouTube video below to see how I made this and as always comments and feedback are always welcome!

The whole process started with printing off the logo and sticking a copy up in my workshop as a reference.  This was of course stuck to a shelf with the Gorilla tape.

I also printed some templates for cutting the details of the gorilla and the larger text for the word “Gorilla”

The larger text was 3mm MDF cut on on my scollsaw and painted black with arcylic paint after being primed with some PVA for sealing the MDF.  This was later glued to the project with the Gorilla epoxy.

The small text was 3D printed on my Lulzbot Taz 3 3D printer and glued on with Gorilla Glues super glue with the applicator brush.  I found the brush surprisingly easy to use though had to use tweezers so not to get any on my hands!

The backerboard for the whole project was made with some reclaimed wood, some old pine shelves that had been around since the mid 90s.  These were jointed with my hand plane and some Gorilla wood glue and painted green with watercolours.

The circle and main sign were made from 2x4s that had been resawn on the bandsaw, planed in my thicknesser/planer and jointed into a board.  The circle was cut on the bandaw, painted with aryclic paint and glued together with…you guessed it…Gorilla epoxy and wood glue!

The sing was a real nice opportunity for me to practice my carving as it was all from one single piece of 2×4 with hand carved fingers touched up with a sabburtooth bit with my dremel.

All in all I loved making this thing and it was a nice chance for me to practice some skills and learn some new ones.  Plus I’m really happy with the gorilla products and shall be buying some of these myself!
